Metro Training Services is made up of a small team of dedicated professionals, keen to see you get the most out of your training. Our team includes:
FRANK WHITWORTH – TRAINING MANAGER
Frank has just joined MTS in March 2009. Prior to this role, Frank was the Service Manager of Capital City Ford Porirua. Frank is an A Grade automotive engineer and also holds the National Certificate in Service Management. Frank has been involved with training for many years, including membership on the MTA National Training Committee, the MITO Regional Committee (Chairman), and the Hutt Valley Polytechnic Advisory Committee (Chairperson). He has also acted as a moderator for motor industry trade examinations and the examiner for the National Certificate in Service Management. Frank has been involved in training a number of automotive apprentices and was involved in the establishment of Metro Training Services in 1996.
KATHRYN GILLUM – ADMINISTRATOR
Kathryn has been with MTS since 2003 and in this time she has developed and implemented systems to ensure the smooth running of MTS’ administrative functions. Kathryn is responsible for managing enrolments, administering TEC contracts and a host of other tasks.
JIM NG – TUTOR
Jim is MTS’ longest serving staff member, having been a tutor since 2002. Jim holds both A Grade Automotive Engineering and A Grade Automotive Heavy Engineering. Jim has had a long automotive career where he has worked in a number of roles, including Service Manager for the Nissan franchise in Wellington. He takes a particular interest in youth and has many years experience working with young people as a Scout leader. Jim is the president of the Johnsonville Lions Club. Jim enjoys food and fishing in his spare time.
DAMIAN WARD – TUTOR
Damian has been with MTS since early 2007. Prior to starting as a tutor he worked as one of the top technicians at Capital City Ford Porirua and has also worked at a number of other workshops including Honda. Damian holds the A Grade Automotive Engineering qualification. In his spare time Damian plays cricket, golf and enjoys trail-riding. He also spends time keeping his Ford Anglia in race-ready condition.
