MTS offers two distinct programs; Automotive Servicing (Level 3) and STAR Gateway Programs for Secondary Schools
Automotive Servicing Level 3
Overview
This course is designed for people looking for the best automotive pre-apprenticeship training programme in Wellington. It incorporates the National Certificate in Motor Industry Entry Skills Level 2, as well as an additional 40 credits at Level 3. This course has been quality-assured by NZQA and appears on the KiwiQuals register.
All of the Unit Standards you complete on the course can be transferred to your apprenticeship, reducing the amount of work you will need to do to qualify in your chosen automotive trade. Graduates from this programme can expect to enter a wide variety of automotive careers; including automotive engineering, automotive electrical, automotive heavy engineering and much more.
Subjects covered in the course include: health and safety, brakes, steering and suspension, transmissions, cooling systems, clutches, cambelts, MIG welding, workshop engineering, automotive electrical and electronics and much, much more.
This course offers the best value for money of any automotive course in the Wellington region.

Entry:
- A minimum of NCEA Level 1 or School Certificate or successful completion of the MTS Entry Questionnaire
- Must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
Credit value: 122 credits
Duration: 40 weeks + holidays (we follow the school term system)
Hours: 8am-3pm Monday to Thursday, work experience or self-study on Friday
Fees: $3330 (including GST)
Course start date: New entrants to the course are taken on board at the beginning of each school term.

STAR and GAteway programs for secondary schools
Overview
These programs are designed for Secondary School students who wish to have “taster” courses whilst still at school. This is a great way for young people to find out what the Motor Industry involves, and at the same time gather some credits they can use later should they choose to have a career in the Motor Industry.
The units offered are from Level 2 and a package is designed for each individual student in association with their secondary school.
